The Veiled Kingdom
by Holly Renee
Oh wow! I finished this book in like 4 hours, when I was suppose to be asleep, because I just couldn’t put it down! This author is new to me but I think I’m officially a fan now! The next book comes out in July but I can’t wait!!
This book is/has:
- Dual POV
- Enemies to Lovers
- Banter
- Runaway Princess Who Has No Magic
- Rebels
- Magical Fae
- Who Did This To You
- Crawl to Me
- Friend's Brother
- Slow Burn/Spice
- One Bed
- Hidden Identity
- Morally Grey MMC
Nyra has been living on the streets since she ran away from the palace, from her father’s claws, because she’s the only Fae who doesn’t have magic. But gets captured by the rebel forces. Dacre is the son of the rebellion’s leader. He tasked himself with training Nyra because he senses her lies and therefore, doesn’t trust her. But, she easily captures his thoughts.
The world building is the perfect amount, the characters are relatable (I absolutely love Wren, I would be friends with her in a heartbeat,) and the banter!! I’m here for it all!
I love Nyra! She’s feisty and strong willed, but still has her faults. She knows she’s weak, but trains to overcome it. My man Dacre! Such an ass, but also some amazing qualities. He’s sweet and caring to his sister and grandmother, and doesn’t want to become like his father, but feels the responsibilities of the rebellion. I was not expecting it, but Dacre is very dominant in the bedroom *side eye.* The perfect morally grey character!
This book was way to short in my opinion. I wish it was twice as long and maybe even started way sooner in the timeline. I would love to learn more about Nyra’s palace life before the raid. I also feel like the connection between Nyra and Dacre were almost rushed in the last 30%-ish of the book. I wish there was more development between them. I also want to learn more about Kit! I have an addition to the side male characters haha.
Thank you Valentine PR for the gifted book.
