What a ride! With the first few sentences of this book, I was absolutely entrapped! Thoroughly enjoyed the first half, at that point I was honestly thinking this is one of the best things that I have ever read! And then we jump to the present day timeline, and while I continued to enjoy it, and I do think it was incredibly well written. I just wasn’t as swept up as with the first part of the story.
I honestly wish we could’ve just stayed in small town, England!! For me, I didn’t need the story within a story.
While I did end up giving this book 5 stars, in my rating system It’s an incredibly low five stars. My main two problems with it, other than the time jump, is it felt preachy at times and what on earth was that ending?!??
All that being said, I loved the story!
Finally it was the few, short sentences sprinkled throughout that captures how it feels to set down and read a good  “whodunnit” book that ultimately places this story so close to my heart.

PS: the audiobook is incredible
