The Beautiful Mystery
by Louise Penny
Okay, so while the logical side of me knows that this series can't always take place in Three Pines because man, that would be an awful lot of murders, I still get really bummed when I come across a book in the series that is outside of Three Pines. Inspector Gamache and Agent Beauvoir are sent to a remote monastery to investigate a murder of the choir director who was murdered by one of his own. We do not get to hear from any of the people from Three Pines or even Agent Lacoste and while I am normally drooling over the descriptions of the food and coffee in the other books, Penny makes music her descriptive focal point in this one. While I might not have loved this one, the ending made me eager for the next book. I'm just really hoping it includes Ruth, The Bistro and everyone else from Three Pines. 3.5/5🌟
