Let me preface this by saying that I just don’t think thrillers are for me. I didn’t dislike the writing - however, I felt like it would have been more impactful to have just one character perspective. The different perspectives helped uncover more information BUT they all felt really similar.

Also the Sluither storyline felt contrived to me. I keep trying to understand how he added to the story in a meaningful way… Let me explain:

1. He saw where Bear was buried. So did T.J., and as a story centered around women, I think being in her brain as she decided to ‘betray’ her ailing father and lead them to Bear’s burial spot would be more interesting.
2. He *maybe* led Tracy out of the wood. Again, would have been more interesting if it was Stoddard’s wife. The Scary Mary reveal was meh.
3. He was a convenient way for Judyta to show that she’s a *real* investigator to the guys. Eh, Denny always believed in her, and I would have preferred to see that mentor/mentee relationship explored more.

Anyway, the writing is decent and the atmosphere is fun for a summer read. Just not my cup of tea.
