The first Chilean book I have ever read, and I was struck by how similar it is to our own experience here in the Philippines. This was as heartbreaking as it was hopeful, as it is with any revolutionary endeavor. This may well be the best way to tell the complicated story of tyranny: through the lens of love... for one's family, for one's partner, for one's country... love drives so much of revolution, but it is spoken of so little.
