Lucky in Love by Kasie West
2.0

(as i am someone who doesn't like spending money on stupid things, this book stressed me out immensely)

overall an ok book, quick read if you want to get out of a reading slump and nothing else seems appealing. neither the plot nor the characters were overly complex. they sometimes seemed to be even oversimplified. the dialogues lacked any depth and that didn't really help to connect with the story. everything was surface-level: conversations, problems, relationships.
the main character was rather dull; quite unmemorable, yet another pick-me-i'm-not-like-the-other-girls-girl who's just so different because she wears her hair in a messy bun and doesn't really party that much - which wouldn't have been annoying if the majority of female main characters wasn't written that way. she obviously makes some questionable choices and acts weirdly, blaming anyone and everyone for her own bad decisions.

i have been also promised "a very good romance" as the book was recommended to me and i expected a little bit more in that respect. the love interest was surely there, but the book lacked any forms of chemistry, tension and that kind of mutual pining that makes you weak in the knees. there were some little bits and pieces of angst (should i even call it angst?), but they were not as gut-wrenching and heart-squeezing as they could've been! this left me utterly disappointed.

i would certainly recommend it to freshly-turned teens and maybe not people pushing twenty or 20+ year olds. if you have, however, a lot of time on your hands and you want to make your flight/train ride go by faster, this could be a nice choice.
