The Weight of Ink by Rachel Kadish

3.0

I had a tough time rating this one. I really enjoyed the story of Ester forging her own path in the 1600s as a female scribe and philosopher. However, there was a lot that I felt could be taken out without detriment to the novel. By the end, I just wanted it to be done. It was too long, pedantic and self-serving, and at times, boring. Unfortunate, really, because the core of an excellent novel is there. It just got bogged down.
