Burnt Offerings
by Laurell K. Hamilton
There are elements here that are really quite interesting (philosophically, socially, etc.) but they stay just out of reach in a way that frustrated me as a reader. I wonder if LKH doesn't know how to express those ideas or doesn't realize the potential is there, because every time things started to get interesting, the story descended into grotesquery or repetitive internal monologues.
