SKIES!! I ate this book up! I love a book with a rebellion-taking me back to my hunger games obsession fr ✋😌 the world building was excellent and very easy to follow along with (perfect for my fellow mood readers). The writing was so engaging and I was sitting over here with my jaw on the floor so many times.
Laia is a quiet scholar who had her whole life upturned on one fateful night. She’s forced to set her fears aside and do things she would’ve once ran away from in order to save her brother. I definitely grew to love her as the book went on. The lengths this girl would go to for the people she cares about 😭 she’s truly selfless and becomes so brave. I look forward to more character development with her!
“As long as there is life, there is hope.”
Elias is the top soldier at blackcliff, where he is being trained to defend the empire’s rule. Only he completely loathes the empire and would do anything to be free of his duty. This man is just good to the bone 😭❤️ I felt so bad for him. He was forced into a cruel life at such a young age, but never lost sight of his beliefs.
“Damn the Trials,” I say to her. “Damn Blackcliff. And damn you too.”
The romance was very interesting! I don’t know if I’ve ever read a book with two love triangle?? Love zigzag perhaps??

Anywho, I think Laia’s love triangle was a little unnecessary. I don’t think we saw enough of Keenan and I don’t feel any sort of attachment to him (perhaps intentional, we shall see). However, elias’ love triangle was keeping me on my toes. This man was going through it with his emotions!!
“I arch into him, reveling in his strength, his fire, the alchemy between us twisting and burning and melding until it feels like gold.”
I am very excited to continue this series 😌
