This was a lot different than expected. I thought it was going to be as intense as the movie but it wasn’t. There were parts of this that were difficult to read but nothing as descriptive and awful like it was portrayed in the movie. Even at the end of this he said his experience as a slave wasn’t representative as a whole since there were slave owners who treated their slaves much worse. I wasn’t expecting to learn about how to fish and farm in the 1800s but you learn something new each day! I think this is a book that should be required reading. It’s such an important topic and book to read.
