The Darkness Within Us
by Tricia Levenseller
Finally got around to this one after reading The Shadow Between Us last year. I think I might have enjoyed this one more?! To be fair though, my memory is a little fuzzy of Shadow.
What I do remember about Shadow brings me to think that The Darkness Within Us had an overall better constructed plot. Shadow had a ton of plot holes and twists that didn’t make sense but this one didn’t.
Similar to her sister in the previous novel, Chrysantha is a morally gray leading lady who does not take crap from anyone. Eryx was a great dueling partner for her although it took me a little while to like the idea of them together. Levenseller always seems to have another potential love interest that I like a little more at first but I eventually grew to like the main love interest.
The audiobook is really good! I ended up switching from reading physically to the audio half way through and glad I did.
Overall, it was a good time but I probably won’t remember much of it in the long run.
