Lean in: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sandberg
4.0
This book had a lot of valuable information in it for any woman who is interested in, or has a leadership position in corporate America. It seems to me that people had a problem with this book because it didn't talk about the average feminist. I don't understand why they looked for the CEO of a company that serves one-fourth of the world for that.
I could relate to a lot of the things she talked about. Especially regarding insecurities about successes. I tend not to want to come off as "too braggy" myself, which ends up working to my disadvantage sometimes. In fact, her chapters on mentorship and meritocracy really helped me. I'm always looking for mentors but I've learned how to be smarter about it. Her chapters on marriage and "having it all" were also very good. She has a great way of tying her personal experiences in to her wisdom and I appreciated that a lot
I would recommend this book to any woman who wants to be at the top of their field. This book is a niche book for a very specific kind of woman and most women will not be able to relate to the things she's saying, nor use the advice she's giving. I'm glad I read it at the point in my career I'm currently in. The book is informational, relatable (to me), candid, honest and even funny at times. I'm glad that I didn't listen to the reviews that could have driven me away from it.
