A Shadow in the Ember by Jennifer L. Armentrout

All I have to say is wow. I was drawn because of how badass Sera, then it was the banter between Sera and Ash. Now, I need to find out what will happen in this world they live in. This is exactly what I love about these romances, yes, there are smutty parts but the worldbuilding is absolutely on point. Armentrout did a phenomenal job of painting a vivid picture of this world. Not to mention, the action sequences are superb. Will definitely be looking for the next book!

Finished my first reread. Will I end up rereading this again in the future? Absolutely. So many good parts in the book.
After reading Poppy's story and From Blood and Ash, Shadow in the Ember now gives a better explanation as to what is happening in the her world thousands of years in the future. You understand the context a little better to.
Nyktas/Ash + Sera will continue to be my favorite couple (along with Rhys + Feyra lol)
