bastimapache 's review for:
A good book to get a glimpse at the different theories concerning the body developed by the main sociologists/philosophers treated, but overall, although the first four authors were somewhat successfully put in dialogue towards a interdisciplinary sociology of the body (Ariès, Elías, Foucault, Bourdieu), the last remaining authors felt like a collection of different theories marginally related to the body itself, followed by disappointing conclusions on a relevant but way too specific topic such as human cloning. Even considering the clear bias against poststructuralist theory and certain branches of feminism by the author, I still believe this to be a good book to get an in-depth review of sociology of the body.
