Tired as F*ck: Burnout at the Hands of Diet, Self-Help, and Hustle Culture by Caroline Dooner

reflective medium-paced

3.0

I liked Dooner's first book -- The Fuck It Diet -- much better as a self-help book. I expected a similar style in this one, and although her voice and tone was similar, the style was more memoir / personal journal. It wasn't especially relatable in many parts; I appreciated that she acknowledged her privileges so often but personally found myself checking out at times. Other times, I really related and loved the points she was making. Overall, I was glad to save a couple of the chapters as standalone "essays," and I enjoy Dooner's thinking about extremism and cult-suspectibility. If you don't enjoy a "read my journal, here's my life rollercoaster" type read, though, this one isn't for you.
