On Dublin Street
by Samantha Young
So how did everyone else break it to their significant others that they were leaving them for Braden?? Wait, what? He's a fictional character?...

I just...wow. I finally actually sat down and read this one and I am blown away. I loved the writing style and the pace of this story. The build up was sexy, the sex scenes were sexy, and Braden was sexy. Three sexys is really all you can ask for in a romance novel. Great plot, great sex, great leading man/woman.
I'm the first to admit that I'm a total sucker for all things based in Scotland. I really couldn't tell you why that is other than the fact that I've built up this idea of what Scottish men are like. In my mind, they are all supermodels that constantly tell me how lovely and beautiful I am and that even though I've always felt average, I'm ACTUALLY a diamond in the rough! WHO KNEW!? In reality, it's very possible that they look like Fat Bastard from the Austin Powers movies. But lets not dwell on that!
Braden is a great alpha male who always gets what he wants because he's uber rich and beautiful...but wait! He's got a troubled past too and is suddenly even more relatable!? Ok! Let's make babies, pleaseandthankyou!
Jocelyn is a lovable, yet broken young writer trying to move on from her parent's deaths eight years prior. This, however, makes her about as emotionally available as a mollusk.
Jocelyn, Jocelyn, Jocelyn.
I just...get your shit together, girl.
Okay, I know that the point of this story is about her struggle with having relationships and that the whole build up to Joss and Braden's relationship revolves around her inability to process and come to terms with her family's deaths. I still found myself frustrated by the constant self-sabotaging that occurred. That being said, I felt that Ms. Young did an excellent job of creating a constant, fulfilling, and sexy build up to the actual start of the relationship. I'm not sure why we are drawn to the drama and tumultuous build up before relationships blossom, but this was a perfectly executed version. Despite Jocelyn's downfalls, I still liked her and wanted her to figure out what her issues were before it was too late. Braden is great in his alpha-ness and willingness to defend Joss when need be, but also provide the listening ear Joss so desperately needed throughout this book.
The sex scenes were pretty hot. There are definitely some more intense, more graphic, and just plain more sex scenes out there in other smut filled romance books, but I think this one had just the right ratio of storyline to sex scenes going on. Since sex provided the initial means for which this couple's connection, there are plenty of steamy scenes. Yes, this story is more about the love between the two character's, but nonetheless, the sex is still great. No whips or chains, but still hot.
I LOVED this book. The storyline is great. I was glad to see the slightly unique twist to the very popular right now alpha male uber rich character by having him be cast opposite a strong (though emotionally troubled) RICH woman who has had sex enough to not need to say "um..." before every sentence. While Braden struggled with other women liking him solely for his money, that issue was removed between him and Joss and I appreciated that. The writing is well done, though there were a few typos (maybe just my copy and not nearly enough that it changed my opinion of the story). I was emotionally involved with these two characters from the start and their relationship feels very organic and real (not too rushed) and the blossoming of that relationship is portrayed very nicely.
It was an excellent, quick read that has an beautiful, tumultuous and emotionally fulfilling love story that still manages to wake your nether regions up with no issue ;)
