Rush the Edge
by S.J. Sylvis
Thank you SJ Sylvis for my #gifted copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Holy spice! This is SJ Sylvis’s spiciest installment yet —and it was completely addicting! I love the hockey world she has created through this series. The way I fly through each book is unreal, and this third installment was no different!
I’m a sucker for a brother’s best friend romance, and Kane and Daisy did not disappoint. Their chemistry was intense — leaping off the page from the start. I loved their history and how you could feel the longing Kane’s longing held for her.
Kane was intense in all the best ways—guarded and possessive, yet deeply vulnerable and caring with Daisy. Watching him struggle to trust again while also not being able to resist letting his walls down for her was heartwarming. Their moments of tension were perfectly balanced by tender scenes that made me melt. Kane’s softness with Daisy, especially when she needed it most was an unexpected side to him that was a standout part of this book
Daisy was such a great character. She was strong, independent and defiant. I loved that she didn’t let her chronic illness keep her from living. As someone in a wheelchair, I’m often cautious when it comes to stories that portray chronic illness or disabilities. Too often, these stories are written as the sole defining trait or a relationship hurdle and seems as if it is all the character talks/thinks about. But Sylvis handled Daisy’s story with care and nuance. Her health was part of her story—not the only story. She expertly weaved Daisy’s health concerns with her being an average young woman with everyday problems and experiences. It was refreshing to see that balance and representation done so well.
I love being back in SJ Sylvis’s hockey world and so hope that Maverick’s story is next because he was such a star in this book!
