The Guest List by Lucy Foley follows multiple points of view across a two-day period. I love a good split POV and this one was split way more than other books I’ve read lately.
However, it was too overhyped. I went in with seriously high expectations and I was let down throughout most of the book until the twists came in (hence the three stars).
Speaking of the twists, I didn’t see them coming at all! This rarely happens (at least with the books I tend to read) so it was nice to be thrown a curveball. Although, from the reviews I had previously read about this book I was expecting there to be some unforeseen happenings.
As for the characters, I couldn’t stand any of them except Hannah which I guess was the point. But, I have to say, this did almost put me off at the beginning but I persevered and I’m relatively glad I did.
Overall, great unexpected twists, good writing style, unloveable characters (aside from Hannah), and a standard ending.
