This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune

5.0

I think this book is absolutely perfect. PERFECT. I’m confident that I’m going to be thinking about this forever and a day. There is something about the sort of second chance, right person wrong time that just speaks to me!!! And add in the best friend’s brother and the forbidden and secret romance? It was GOOD. I LOVE Carley’s writing. Everything flows so well and it feels just RIGHT. I’ve only read Every Summer After, and LOVED IT. But I felt the same way when I read that, and it’s so hard to really explain. And now I’m going to read Meet Me at the Lake as soon as humanly possible.

I LOVE LUCY. I love her so much. Her and her aunt’s relationship was so sweet and I loved how their duo so easily became a trio when Bridget came around. I loved that Bridget’s family just became hers as well. I LOVED that Bridget called her ‘Bee’. I loved how much she loved Bridget, and the flower shop, and flowers, and PEI, and the butter in the pink wrapper.

I also love Lucy and Felix. Five years of pining, of the tension, of just a couple of times but also SO MANY FEELINGS. The flower seeds? The books? It was done SO WELL. I loved the flashbacks and the transitions from present to past were seamless. I loved watching their love grow slowly but SO SURELY.

And also Felix. The most wonderful man to ever exist. Ever.

As much as this is about Lucy and Felix it’s also very much about Lucy and Bridget and holy crap DO I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. Even though they have changed, and kept things from each other they are BEST FRIENDS. And I love that for them. When Lucy called Bridget the love of her life I was in TEARS.

Thank you so much to Berkley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!!
