I’ll start out by saying there were times this book was cringey but not enough for me to make it 3 stars. Some of the dialogue was a little out of place but overall I liked this book.

It does give the same feel as ACOTAR so I can see where people are drawing the comparison. I liked that she didn’t try to solve everything in a Hail Mary by the end. Although, I’m not sure I could have predicted the ending here.

I love the world it’s set in and the magic system is interesting. I kind of want more explanation of both in the next one for sure.

I love the idea of fated mates that develop tattoos. I also loved that his mom took comfort in the knowledge that Saeris was coming and her son would be alright even though she died centuries before. I’m so interested though to learn more about how alchemists come about and why Saeris? But maybe that’ll get explored more in the next book.

I loved the humor. If anything happens to swashbuckling Carrion Swift, I’ll riot. And i need proof of life of Onyx, the dog-like fox.

I’m excited for the sequel in the fall!
