Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers

5.0

Trigger Warnings: Depictions of mental illness, self-harm, past suicide attempt by side character, depictions of anti-Blackness and homophobia in academic and corporate settings, past parent death, past limb amputation

This book made me feel a lot of feelings. It is lyrical and comical and for me, painfully familiar at times. While the book is less than 300 pages long, I feel like there is so much that can be learned from this story. From the importance of vulnerability and asking for help when you need it, to the importance of not pushing yourself until you burn out and fall to pieces. I believe stories like Honey Girl are essential. These kinds of stories can save lives.
