Under Shifting Stars
by Alexandra Latos

When I first picked up UNDER SHIFTING STARS I couldn't quite get into it. I'll admit that I was a bit put off by the different writing styles used for Clare and Audrey's POVs. That being said, once I got past the first few chapters, I was in. The siblings' voices flowed and I understood their differences.
Overall, I thought the plot here was pretty decent, but where Latos shines here is authenticity. Audrey and Clare, despite being completely different characters, were utterly authentic. I never for a second forgot whose POV I was reading. There was a reverence put into accurately representing the feelings and personalities of the twins - one of whom is neurodivergent, the other struggling with their gender identity.
I really enjoyed that both Audrey and Clare were still in the throws of figuring themselves out because they are only fourteen! I really loved the authenticity I found in UNDER SHIFTING STARS.
