Heartstopper Volume 2 by Alice Oseman

5.0

Another adorable volume featuring Nick and Charlie. I really enjoyed the topic surrounding this volume, I think even more than volume 1. The layout design took a step up as well in my opinion, loved it.

I love how Oseman approached coming out and the health relationship. I love how honest Nick was, allowing Charlie to support him. It didn’t come across as hard work for Charlie, and Nick did a great job as verbalising his thoughts.

It really highlights how a lot of teens are feeling really. Who do they like? Are they purely one lane? Should they be dating if they’re not sure? What will other people think or say? Do I tell my friends or family?

Loved seeing more of Tara, and we finally got a blow out with some of the horrible boys. I like that Nick is shown as protective with out overly romanticising him as a protector. And how Charlie is thrown around in the imagery but isn’t written as a damsel in distress.

Just the perfect balance. I just love this series. It makes me smile so much, my bf asked me what I was smiling at constantly.
