Light as a Feather by Zoe Aarsen
5.0

Wowza those last 50 pages bumped this whole thing up from 4 to 5 stars.

So I wanna preface this review with the fact that I never read anything scary. At all. This was about as bad as it gets and I still refused to read it in the darkness of my room. But I loved the terrifying grip this story had on me. I was biting my nails throughout the entire last 50 or so pages of the book and loved a lot of the stuff before that.

I actually liked McKenna as a character along with Trey and Misha and Candace. I despised Violet, but that's how it was supposed to be. But these characters weren't really the true stars of the show, they were just the pawns for the spirits of the story to play with and that's where the horror and action truly gets going.

We start the story with the death of Olivia (not a spoiler because it's literally in the synopsis) and although it actually felt like the story took a long time to get there, I later appreciated it for taking the time to introduce the characters to us as the readers. I don't think I would've been able to tell the difference between Candace and Misha or Pete and Isaac without it.

After that the story really gets moving on its pace with the haunting of a bedroom, a trip to a priest, and many more spoilery details that I actually loved. I adored the witch aspect of the Ouija board and the haunting moments with it. This story really had my heart beating a lot and I found out about 2/3 of the way through that I cared about these characters way more than I thought I did.

In conclusion, a fantastic story that I still can't believe came out of Wattpad (even though I love Wattpad...). Amazing from start to finish and I definitely plan to read the rest of the series.
