Sui Ishida’s hauntingly beautiful art style always pulls me in; this cover is gorgeous, and the story is somewhat reminiscent of Tokyo Ghoul, one of my favourite mangas ever by the very same author.
I already love the dynamic between Tokio and his friend Azuma. The scene where they point the needles at each other?? So powerful. I really hope Tokio starts to appreciate himself more, and realize that their friendship isn’t as one-sided as he seems to believe.
The convergent storyline was an interesting choice. Before they came together, I definitely enjoyed Tokio’s perspective more than the girl’s (since once again, i can’t help feeling like it’s reminiscent of Kaneki)! I’m intrigued to see how Tokio will hone his powers, and learn to live with what’s happened to him in the future.
