DID NOT FINISH

So I have been slowly making my way through this self-help book, and at first, I really felt like I could get a lot out of it. He spoke about emotions and mental health in a very logical way, and I was underlining a lot of what he said. As the book went on, he started making points that I didn’t really agree with (very manifest-y and spiritual, which doesn’t resonate with me) and were at times problematic (did you know that the reason that people were poor during the Great Depression was because they accepted the negativity of poverty into their lives? [evidence for this point being that there were some people who were rich during this time period]), but I continued to push through because I was already so far in and because a lot of self-help books can often have some weird problematic views that you have to parse through. However, once I got to the Love chapter, where there was a section about how unconditional love for our fellow human also extends to Hitler, who “couldn’t help what happened to him” (???), I just had to give it up. I do not know how anyone can take anything this man says seriously after he not only had that thought in his mind but also put pen to paper to bring it into physical existence and then had the audacity to publish it for other people to read. It’s concerning that this has a 4+ star review average on here.
