Robin Hobb has such a compelling way of storytelling.
Writing from the perspective of multiple characters, Hobb manages to capture the varying essences of each character so well.
She made me ache for some characters, feel hopeful for others. As well as feel a level of (intentional) rage at other characters that I haven’t felt in a long timeMalta .
Each character just feels so human. Flawed and annoying at times but you want to root for them nonetheless.
And the plot. So captivating. Naturally, with there being so many characters, there are a few subplots as well. But each subplot is woven into the main narrative beautifully.
There was such a great build up of tension and rising stakes that Ship of Magic kept me continually grasping for the next page.
I’m really excited to read the next book in this trilogy!
