There's a lot that's great about _Phineas Redux_, but in the end it seemed less interesting to me than the book in the series that introduced Phineas. I enjoyed the romance with Madame Max in this one  and the way that it followed on the courtship plots of _Phineas Finn_, but the murder part of the story seemed to devour the narrative such that the character development took a back seat to something that was ultimately less interesting. Still, it would be hard to neglect this book, so ultimately I recommend it!
