Ghost Note by Vicki James

5.0

They started dating at age 14. They grew up together and learned to love together. She wanted to stay in their small hometown and build a life with him. He wanted to create music and follow that dream wherever it took him. So he let her go at age 20. She was heartbroken and lived a shell of a life. When at age 25 his grandmother died, she braced for his return full of fire and anger. But that love was still there and she couldn’t stay mad forever.
This is the story of Danny and Daisy.
Opinion
This book is one hell of a ride. To have found what you believe to be your one true love at 14 is incredibly rare (though I do know one couple who did.) with the flashbacks worked so expertly into the story, you can see how great their love was. I love the story in the present as well. Still heartbroken after five years is a bit of a stretch for me but it worked. As the story evolves, you learn more about why he left and it made my animosity of him dissipate. Being able to see his reasoning helped the story progress effortlessly. It is an epic love story of everyday proportions, a situation we can all see ourselves in.
A big thanks to Bare Naked Words for providing me with an ARC of this book.
