Don't Look Now by Mary Burton

I have now read a few books by Mary Burton and I feel like I'm repeating myself in every review. Mary Burton is a phenomenal mystery/thriller writer. Every book I've read of hers is fast-paced, suspenseful, and page-turning. I'm hooked from the first page and don't want to put it down. My continued biggest issue with her books is the romance scenes. Every time a romance part is thrown into one of her books, it seems to be forced and added on as a second thought. These scenes, in my opinion, are not needed and don't add any real value to the story.
With all of that being said, now onto my review of Don't Look Now...
Once again, Mary Burton knocks it out of the park with Don't Look Now. From page one I was hooked and was anxious to know what was going to happen next. The main character Jordan Poe is a strong female lead and I found myself relating to her throughout the book. The story itself was suspenseful and the twists throughout kept you guessing. My only issue with Don't Look Now, besides the romance parts, is that I figured out early on who the killer was. Mary did have me second-guessing myself at times, but ultimately I kept coming back to the same person each time. Overall, I would recommend Don't Look Now to anyone who enjoys a suspenseful mystery!

Austin's Homicide Detective Jordan Poe's latest case involves a serial killer who wraps young women in plastic and suffocates them. Each victim has similar features; they are around the same age, have blonde hair, and are petite. They also are recovering addicts who have relapsed. For Jordan, this case hits a little too close to home. Her sister, Avery, shares the same features as the victims and two years ago she relapsed and was found unconscious with plastic in her mouth.
As the victim count continues to rise, Texas Ranger Carter Spencer is brought in to work the case. Jordan isn't thrilled about being pulled off the case and tries to keep herself involved. However, things take a turn for the worst when Jordan is attacked while trying to save one of the victims, leaving her with limited vision. She then has to rely on Carter to help find the killer before another victim is killed.
