Glee Girl: A Mythology High Short Story by Magda Knight

Of all of Magda Knight's Mythology High series short stories, this one has stuck in my mind the most.
I read this back in 2013 and only realized today that my original review was never uploaded on goodreads. This is a shame, because I was given a free copy to read in exchange for my honest opinion. That might have biased my review back then, but it's been three years and I think about this short story a lot. Even though I received it for free, I went and bought myself a copy.
The premise of this story plays on the Banshee theme: Megan wants desperately to join the Glee Club, but her vocal talents are unearthly and tend to cause friction among her peers. Sometimes, the friction is the result of a several too-freaky-to-be-coincidences that happen when Megan sings, but no one can really prove these things are her fault. Still, it takes less than near-death accidents to make someone a target of scorn in high school, so poor Megan has her hands full. Megan has to do her best to prove that she has what it takes to be a member of the glee club, but will it be enough?
This is a short read and entirely enjoyable. The ending wraps things up neatly, and there's a few overlapping characters from Seal Girl and Geek Girl so readers of Magda's other stories will be able to give a wry smile, but one-time-readers wont miss any important details.
I definitely recommend this. it's a quick and fun read and a cool, modern take on the mythology that's not too supernatural heavy.
