I love Eloise, but Phillip Crane is whiny, selfish, and insufferable. I have been given no reason to root for him—his character "development" consisted merely of brief instances of eureka! moments, as if he just had to wake up in order to change. And Eloise's character fell disappointingly flat as the story progressed.
