This is a perfect book for fall!  It's creepy, eerie, spooky and mysterious also slightly paranormal? This is also a professor x student book and I didn't hate it? I usually stay away from books with this trope but she's 21/22 and he's 28 so I guess it didn't bother me as much because of their ages. The romance however... The setting of this book was great. You can definitely feel how creepy the castle is. I think Corvina was a great character. There is so much you know about her however there is so many unanswered questions about her.

I will say, I think the romance ruined the book. The relationship between Vad and Corvina was pretty much instalove/lust. I didn't get the connection between them.  There was no buildup between them. Vad was so frustrating at times too. As a couple was just kinda there for me. The smut was really intense for no reason. It was also really weird and kinda cringey lol. For example they would be having very important discussions while they were doing it. It overpowered the book at times tbh. Despite all of this I still liked the book though lol.

I think the overall plot was really good with the mystery and suspense. The characters are really different from anything I've ever read. There's a lot of unanswered questions though. Once I got to the end I was like that's it?? But the author has said it's an open ended standalone and she wrote it like that on purpose. I still enjoyed this book nonetheless.
