Into the Darkest Corner
by Elizabeth Haynes
I devoured this book in one night (unintentionally, just wanted one more chapter but woops). Thrillers are always a hit or miss and this was a hit for me. The ending was as creepy as the beginning. I was left wishing this was a movie throughout when the suspense was built in the last third. One thing for me was the change of Lee was a bit jarring, it kind of felt like one page he was the charming guy her friends believed over her and then the next he's a belligerent alcoholic. I absolutely adored Stuart and loved the way his relationship with Cathy was built. Speaking of relationships, there's something missing about Cathy and Sylvia's at the end but maybe it's the speed of everything happening that there was no time for Sylvia to spell out where she messed up. Yes everything that happened to her sucked to but I wish there was just a line of acknowledgment of how they fell out. Like that's not a light betrayal from her. But overall, solid thriller for me.
