Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
4.0
#louisadeservesbetter.
That's the main thought I had about this book. This poor girl oh my gosh. She's always the butt of the joke, her boyfriend is a jerk, and everyone makes fun of her lack of "excitement." Not to mention the fact that her mom was going to kick her out. Then she gets thrown into this job solely because she's bubbly and happy and whatnot, and there is all this pressure on her to make sure. Will wants to live. Like, she feels like she is the only one who can help him, and that if he goes through with his plan it will be HER fault.
Also that ending. WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT ENDING?!?!?!! I am rating this as a 4 star specifically because it was not my favorite. Now, I did not shed a single tear, but it was just so depressing. It felt like someone had carved a hole out of my heart and stamped on it. (Bad analogy, I know.)
What made it worse was that I knew it was coming. I knew as soon as we figured out his plan he was going to die by the end. And in all reality, it was the only way to end this book. But that doesn't mean I need to LIKE it.
Anyway.
Moyes is a brilliant author. She really knows how to write. I loved her prose and the way she portrayed the characters. The story flowed well and worked great for the most part. I also really liked how Louisa went to the place in Paris where Will said he would want to go. I thought it was poetic!
I have to go and process this story now. And now I can read everyone else's reviews. Yay
