A great read! A little slow on the pacing, because a lot of the initial focus was on the relationship between S.T. and his nestling. As the story progressed the tone shifted to heavy tension and horror.

While Hollow Kingdom humorously introduced us to the many colorful animal characters of this world, Feral Creatures used those characters to weave a story full of adventure, loss, and out-of-pocket animal facts. There were many times when I wanted to yell or give up on both S.T. and Dee, only to reach a story beat that explained their actions through a cunning plan or an emotional realization ( too bad the crows don't have therapists.)

Overall I'm so happy to have read this series and learn all of the fun animal facts and characteristics the author taught me along the way! Expect a little more gore and horror than the first book, but know that it's coupled with the heart of some beautiful relationships.
