A Man and His Cat, Volume 2 by Umi Sakurai

5.0

This manga is something else. Whereas cat massage therapy was a wholesome story about a cat massage therapy parlor, that's all to it. A man and his cat explore some deeper topics(though it's still just a man and his cat so not too deep lel). Even though Fukumaru behaves like a toddler sometimes e.g just bursting out in tears and yelling for his daddy cause he's scared to get down somewhere he jumped on himself.
We explore his emotions and the relationship that's being built with the man. I love how the emotions are portrayed on this cat. Usually, animals are kind of stiff and just serve to complement the main human character. However, Fukumaru is the best crybaby main character ever. We get to gradually uncover the story of the man and his family too. I really feel like the story is building up to something but at the same time that's not the focus. We're just vibing along with Fukumaru and the man. 9 out of 10 times they're fanboying about each other.

I somehow feel very connected to them.

All this kitty wants is to have a purpose and make his daddy happy. He's very afraid of being useless. I guess that just hits a certain heartstring.
