While not as deep as I am currently craving I still had a blast with this book and plan to continue the series. My library mistakenly has this as YA which I dont really agree with due to some mildly graphic sex scenes. We do have a very cool magic system and world-building involving elements, angels, and prophets. I really liked the two POV across time. Rielle’s chapters serve as lore building while Elaina’s show the current state of the world after an incredibly powerful women rose to power. There’s mystery as you try to unravel how all this happened and how characters across time are connected to each other. The chapters are short and fast paced. And the trials were descriptive and immersive.
Ended up buying the trilogy used so I can annotate the next two and see all my thoughts. Definitely want to read more by her.
