Fever Fae by Meg Xuemei X

3.0

The heroine irked me a couple times
-she an adult slapped her minor sister because she called her a slut when she was upset. There’s no resolution or apology and I think we are meant to dislike this tween for her attitude but like she’s upset about her parents and the favouritism
- she had a boyfriend I get he’s like “some jerky college guy” and it wasn’t meant to be serious but she broke up with him over the phone so casually after getting hot for the fae lol
- use of the word dude, a lot.
- was in denial or oblivious about things about herself
- “I can’t believe I want all 3 of them, does that make me the definition of a slut?”
- “what did you say to make the pizza guy afraid of me!?” She’s literally come storming out of the house with a gun and is chasing him
- threatening the fae kings with restraining orders and the police multiple times

It just felt like there was a bit of inconsistency in her character

Also I don’t know if the night king is meant to be a nod to Sara J Maas ACOTAR night king or it’s just a coincidence I’m noticing because I love those books so much but like Rhysand and Rydstrom both night kings, court of nightmares, he killed the father of the summer and winter king so they hate him, there’s an evil queen obsessed with trying to bang him, he has a bad reputation and just his attitude in general. Oh and There’s a warded cabin in the mountains.

But yeah, despite the stuff I didn’t like- I enjoyed the premise, the children and scenes in the bar.
