Losing You, the sequel to Leaving Fairfield is near as good as the first, which gripped me so much I read it in a single sitting.
Picking up after Allie has been to Paris and off to college, it’s very Allie for the first guy she meets when home to become the main man of the book.
I enjoyed the story. The most compelling part to me was what I didn’t like about Allie, and I’m pretty sure I’m not supposed to like it. Allie is constantly telling herself, and by extension us the reader, how she’s an independent woman and never wants to be defined by who her boyfriend/ex is, yet all it takes is for one of them to look at her, and that guy becomes all she is about. Then, despite her protests, seems not to be happy unless she's in some sort of relationship drama. She appears as one of those girls who ‘totally hates the drama’, but chases it every chance she gets.
Maybe with this not being my usual sort of read, I’ve missed the point, but it doesn’t matter as I still enjoyed the book.
Looking forward to finishing the trilogy, mainly to see if Allie can finally be the person she wants to be.
