Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter

4.0

This is going to be a really hard review to write, because I have literally no words. Karin Rights so eloquently and beautifully that her writing sweeps you into the story right away, the reason why I gave it four stars and not five is because of the fact that I genuinely feel like this almost 500 page book could’ve been about 200-5300 pages. Now let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. The scenes in this book are so graphic so disgusting so life-changing that multiple times during reading this I had to set the book down and just breathe. The reason why it affected me so much was because it’s so unfortunate that this is not really a book of fiction, the stuff happens far too often and it’s hard to wrap your head around the people can be that evil. The other reason why I didn’t read it five stars was because even though there was an ending there was never any real reason or explanation as to why the antagonist did what he did which leaves you only to Think that it was just for his pleasure, which is sort of a letdown. Because that’s disgusting, Duh. But in the end of this spoke was an amazing read it really swept me into the characters minds I love the alternating viewpoints and point of views I loved reading the dad‘s journal and I really felt like I was actually there which terrified the living crap out of me. At the end of the book I was reading the big climaxing while I was eating breakfast and boy oh boy my food got so cold because I was sitting on the edge of my seat I ended up standing and sort of pacing the room while reading to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
