Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
5.0
It was perfect. Absolutely, utterly, and completely perfect. Nothing about this book should be changed or modified or reviewed or edited. It was simply a perfect, funny, serious, good read about how LGBT kids feel once in a while. And I loved it.
SECOND READTHROUGH:
[Read for school project] This book has so many elements that I just absolutely love and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of reading this book. I’m currently using it in a project about sexuality in school and I’m applying queer theory on to it and it’s all very exciting and good. All in all, I want this book to be imprinted in my brain forever and I never - ever - want Simon Spier to leave my life.
THIRD READTHROUGH:
Wow I love this book so much and I love love love love love Simon and Blue and I need more and more and more and may I just remind you that this book is GREAT. I absolutely cannot fathom how much research and energy Becky Albertalli has put into making this book so incredible, and I don't doubt for a second that this is one of the best queer books out there. Read it and weep.
FOURTH READTHROUGH:
Picked this up super randomly on overdrive because I needed some content for my flight home from Greece and can I just say I cried like no other yet a-fucking-gain. Jesus Christ. So many scenes in this book are obviously super important, but this time I really felt so incredibly touched by the scene in the gay bar where Simon just feels so fucking seen and valid and incredible and it's so important and it's just the most amazing scene and when the college boy tells him to "go be seventeen" like!!! yes!!! go be naive and young and seventeen and fall in love and have fun with your friends and fucking... Incredible.
