Incredible description of just how much is lost when you get rid of subversive spaces. As cities continue to gentrify, the death by a thousand cuts that is described in this book continues to play out!
Personally I am sad that they types of interactions described in this book could never be replicated in the 21st century and most importantly, they were never even given a chance. Also I am thinking about how different lesbian culture is from gay male culture and I wonder what our communities could be like if we allowed even a fraction of these kind of casual sexual interactions.
