arjole2001 's review for:
An Apprenticeship or The Book of Pleasures
by Clarice Lispector
Sometimes I felt like I was reading a literary masterpiece, other times I felt bored and wondered why Clarice Lispector wrote a book on the endless self-analysis and Godly tribulations of a detached character.
I am not sure that I really appreciated the idea that Lóris is in need of guidance and basically life lessons from a man… BUT, this is my 21st Century self talking.
The prose is still incredible and the journey pleasant, I just think that I need to re-read the book without bias or expectations to truly enjoy it.
