What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami

inspiring reflective medium-paced

5.0

This was essentially Murakami’s memoir about his relationship between running, writing, music, and life in general.  I found it really inspiring and was happy to see that he was realistic about how difficult it could be sometimes to even just get started.  Even though his writing subject was completely different to that in his novels, his writing style was still fairly similar, and I understood his voice as an author better.  Also it wouldn’t be Murakami if he didn’t somehow objectify women (although I naively thought he wouldn’t manage to do that in a memoir about running) so that was … something.
