Night Study
by Maria V. Snyder
So many twists and turns. So many friends and family fought together in more and more dire situations.
The plot was at its thickest when the entirety of our amazingly resourceful sneak crew ended up needing rescued by a bunch of teenagers including newly discovered siblings, street rats, some kid from the Glass series that I haven't read yet, adopted child of the sister-in-law's younger sister's husband. That sums up the best reason why I love the Study series. While our main characters, Yelena and Valek, were not shy from heading straight into danger with nothing but their favourite knives and lock picks, they were never alone. Even Valek realised that he had acquired a family. And holy snow cats, that family kept growing and growing, extending through marriage, friendship, work colleagues, magic school alumni, long lost family. The world of Ixia and Sitia came to life through those side characters and the interwoven tapestry of love and hate.
Study #5 is the most romantic book in the series so far with Valek and Yelena's relationship. So many tender moments I swooned. And finally their love for each other would influence the outcome of things. It only took 8 years.
