Very interesting commentary about factory farming, capitalism, also sexism. If it wasn't so graphic I would say that this could be a great required reading for high schoolers. 

Short book, highly recommend if you can stomach it. 

There are a lot of criticisms about the book being misogynistic. I would say that it's realistic. Regardless of socioeconomic status, the women in disenfranchised groups are treated the worst. So yes, the sexual violence the poor "heads" are subjected to is a reflection of the violence poor women in the real world face. Along with other gender based atrocities like forced births and mother-child separation.
