Neither as bad as the critics who hated it nor as good as those who loved it. Most of the characters are not that well developed, and I didn't love any of them. I think you effectively feel for some of the characters at various points, but the leaps to their dramatic actions don't feel that convincing. It's well written, though some of the narration is initially confusing. I wanted to know where it was going, and read it pretty quickly because of that (which I take as a sign of good craft).
