A great spicy read with an obsessive ancient archdemon from hell in a modern world.
Keywords - Tropes: dark romance - fantasy - paranormal - mythology - first person multi POV - found family - angels/demons - elemental magic - enemies to lovers - obsessive/villainous MMC - touch her and die - age gap - badass FMC - loveable characters - kidnapping - death/violence - spice/lust - great banter - (fast) medium paced.
First things first, this books has a stunning cover and a beautiful dedication;
To those who choose their own destiny despite the expectations of others.
May you always keep your humor pinned to your courage for all the challenges you face.
This totally describes our FMC, Lana, and how she behaves throughout the story.
I really enjoyed this read. It contains a lot of my favorite tropes and it did not dissapoint at all.
The banter and inner monologues of our FMC Lana is amazing! There is so much humor woven into this dark and upsetting story which makes it more lighthearted to read. I really love that. I have been smiling, giggling and even laughing out loud throughout this story. Some lines were just way too funny. Ofcourse there were still many cruel and upsetting teary eyes moments which I loved as well. It was a perfect balance. Its always a great story when the book makes you feel so many emotions and leaves you a bit broken in the end.
The story contains many other fun and loveable characters. The group of half-bloods just give a huge found family vibe. Especially between Lana and Kevin. Love them! I also really love the development between Lana and Ash but also just Ash as an individual. His particular way of speaking and his ancient behaviour is just so alluring and makes him such an interesting vibe. I wish he was my obsessive daddy fr.
The plot didn't dissapoint either because I truly love when a dark romance contains fantasy elements and this book did amazing with the angels/demons, elemental magic and hell elements.
The spice was great! It was very captivating and interesting because it was never really the same. The variety in every scene and the writing was so well done, oh my... I just have no words to describe how good it was.
Even outside of the spicy scenes, the lust and attraction was always there and it was so alluring.
My only struggle throughout this book is how sometimes certain scenes/chapters ended so abruptly, followed by a crazy time jump. The first few chapters went through +/- 3 years which I personally find a bit less 'enjoyable' to fully connect with the story. BUT this was practically only at the beginning of the story so it wasn't such a big factor in the end.
I truly enjoyed this read so much and I can not wait to read more of this world and these characters.
Thank you Liana Valerian for this amazing story!
