Iron Council
by China MiƩville
3.5 stars, really. Not as exciting as [book:Perdido Street Station], but it's fun to get back into that world again. The Iron Council itself is impressive, the scenery's quite interesting, all the stuff with golems is fascinating, and I loved the relationship at the centre of the story (cheesy though it might be). On the down side, the book didn't get me as excited as P.S.S. did; the disparate stories sort of run around too much before coming together (I think), and it just didn't sustain my interest as much as anything else. Still, fun to read, and I liked it more than [book:The Scar]. Give it a read, but don't buy it until you've read it first.
